Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar achieved another milestone on 9th March, 2011, Wednesday when he completed 18 runs against Netherlands at Feroz Shah Kotla in a Group B match of the World Cup.
The Indian batting maestro became the first batsman to score 2000 runs in the World Cup matches. Sachin, who is already the highest scorer in World Cups, smashed a boundary of the last ball of a Ryan ten Doeschate over to reach the feat.
The 37-year-old, who came into his 40th World Cup match with 1982 runs to his name, first played at cricket's showpiece tournament in 1992.
Tendulkar has scored five centuries and 13 half centuries in the World Cup tournament so far. He has been appearing in the most World Cup this year. He equaled the Javed Miandad’s record of six World Cup appearances.
He is the highest run scorer in ODI and Test cricket, He has scored maximum number of hundred in Test (51) and ODI (47).
The next player on the list is Australian skipper Ricky Ponting, who has 1,577 runs in 42 matches.
