Hussey gets Aussie World Cup call

Australia batsman Michael Hussey is replace Doug Bollinger after the pacer suffered an ankle injury.

Hussey was in the original 15-man squad but was withdrawn after suffering a hamstring injury and replaced with Callum Ferguson.

Hussey had then claimed he would have been fit and fine after two games. Bollinger's exit has paved a way for Hussey's return.

The Aussie southpaw was out for almost a month after sustaining a hamstring injury during Australia’s ODI series against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Earlier, Australia fast bowler Doug Bollinger was sent home from the ICC Cricket World Cup due to a left ankle injury. The left-arm quick played in Australia's opening warm-up game against India on February 13, taking one for 29 off six overs, but has not played since.

Meanwhile, Victoria paceman Dirk Nannes will also travel to India as a standby player in case Australia suffer further losses to their bowling attack.

Australia, bidding for a fourth successive World Cup title, won their first two matches against Zimbabwe and New Zealand before sharing the points with Sri Lanka in Saturday’s washed-out match in Colombo.
